The new scholars had known Jim for only a couple of weeks. And yet his spirit lives on in the house and I think it always will. We speak of Jim daily. Not least because everything around us is so intertwined with him. Every person that comes and goes, every material thing that makes the house such a wonderful place to be and every question or concern that we know he would have dealt with in his caring and efficient way - Everything here is a testament to the community Jim built. We have articles about his life pinned up in the kitchen - and although it is so sad to read them, it is reassuring to feel he is somehow there watching over us. Hearing the stories from past scholars we realise how fortunate we were to spend some time with Jim. He was simply a great man. It is a huge sadness to us all that we were not able to share longer with him. And yet - despite knowing him for such a short time, we also know how Jim would have wanted us to react to this tragedy. He would have told us to pull together; to grow stronger as a group and to persevere. And so this is what we will do: We will make the most of this year and dedicate our work to Jim. We send our deepest condolences to his family and friends and hope that they can take some strength from the wonderful thing he has created here. Jon
