From Naomi (2005-6)

It is so hard to believe such a wonderful man is no more. It was he who was there for us in Montreal all the way, touching our lives in numerous ways; understanding our differences, personal likes and dislikes. I wouldnt be wrong to say that every one of us were made to feel like his own during program. The relationship we had was not that of a director and scholars but that of a father and children. From that initial canoe trip that introduced us to putin, to walking on the frozen lake in Laurentians and our trips to Washington and Ottawa, Jim played a key role in everything we did as a group, always going that extra mile to make us feel special. He made us appreciate simple things in life and in turn appreciated simple gestures like our walk to his house on his birthday year before last. Jim and I always joked about meeting for "hot-buttered rum" in London after our trip to Laurentians, where I was introduced to the drink. Although we will not be able to do it, the memories of those happy moments will linger on. Jim, thank you for everything you did for us. May your soul rest in peace. Nancy, I hope you will have a speedy recovery. May God bless you! Naomi
