From Saman (2003-4)

Email communications: After leaving Montreal I’d often sign my emails to him: Your humble and obedient daughter, and he always wrote Abu Jim, sometimes making a joke about my self-title! Once I complained to him that potential candidates email me to ask questions about the programme and when I respond to their queries, some of them don’t even say thanks afterwards. I told Abu Jim that those that do not reply don't deserve to be accepted as Sauvé Scholars. Email to Abu Jim dated 16 December 2005: “yet another rude person! what is the world coming to? I seriously do not think highly of someone who cannot respond with a simple 'thank you' and I am sure you will agree, Love from your obedient and very polite daughter, Saman.” Reply from Abu Jim on same date: “Dear obedient and polite daughter As you grow older you will find that the world is full of rude people. Unfortunately the world is not made up of Samans and one or two - no more - Abu Jims.” He was right – there is only one Abu Jim and all his children love him to bits.
